Questions To Ask Your Wedding DJ

Hiring a DJ and hiring a wedding DJ can be two different things depending on your sense of style. Understand that most DJ's have their niche and it's not always easy to step outside their comfort zone if they don't commonly do weddings. Someone more experienced in that field will have a better understanding of how a wedding should pan out. Elegant Events Media uses wedding professionals but each of our DJ's have their own flair.

To determine which style is best for you, consider asking some of the following questions:

  • Is this a full-time career? What is your style/primary niche? (Weddings? Clubs? Parties?)
  • What's your way of getting the crowd pumped up?
  • How do you handle song requests?
  • Can you be the master of ceremonies?
  • Is your style more energetic or do you stick to yourself?
  • Have you played at our venue before?
  • Do you have a reel?
  • Do you use lighting or any of that special equipment?

Choosing A Wedding Photographer

Choosing a good wedding photographer is crucial but hard. They have one chance to cover this event, so they better do it right. The saying "good isn't cheap, and cheap isn't good" can fit into play when determining who is going to be the lucky photographer that will shoot one of the biggest days of your life.

Here are some things to keep in mind:

  • What style is YOUR style?

Because not every bride is alike, we like to have photographers on staff that would best accommodate everyone's sense of style. When choosing your photographer, determine your style. What is it that you like in photos? Are you more of a candid person or more of portraiture? Would you prefer to have someone who is heavy on the editing or someone that doesn't edit much at all? Have these things sorted out prior to your search.

Google is your best friend. Use the internet to look for reviews on anyone that you are considering, ask friends for recommendations and check social media for a glimpse of the photographers personality. After all, you will be spending a day with him!

  • Preview full wedding albums.

If you like what you see on their website, ask for more. You'll want to see a full wedding album as an example of how they cover an entire wedding ceremony.

  • Ask about your rights!

Elegant Events Media is known for giving brides all of the rights to their photos. This means the images are watermark free and you own all copyrights to printing. A lot of photographers will not remove their watermark without an additional cost. This is something you need to find out before hand. Otherwise, you will not be able to legally print your images.

Additional questions to consider:

  1. How many images will I get?
  2. How many are edited?
  3. Does my engagement shoot come with it?
  4. How long does it take to get my images back?
  5. How many hours should I book my photographer for?
  6. Do you shoot weddings often?
  7. Have you shot at my venue before?

A Beautiful Tahoe Wedding Video

On a picturesque day in May 2017 we had the pleasure to be invited to shoot some video at a wedding at The Westshore Cafe on the north shore of Lake Tahoe.  Minutes before the wedding the clouds opened up and drizzled some snow on the landscape.  This is the epic Highlight Reel we produced from that day.
